What is a mortgage discharge?

Use the mortgage discharge authority form to give us instructions about your loan when:

  • You sell a property.

  • You refinance your loan with another bank or financial institution.

  • You’ve repaid your loan and want us to release your property from the mortgage.

  • You want to release a family guarantee on your loan.

What you’ll need to complete the form

If you have a relationship banker or broker, please contact them directly before completing this form.

Borrower and representative details

  • Relevant borrowers, properties and home loan account number(s).

  • Authorised representatives for this discharge (e.g. your solicitor, broker, bank representative).

Account details

  • BSB and account number for any refund or excess funds to be paid.

  • BSB and account number of the NAB transaction account we can debit any fees or government charges.

How to complete a mortgage discharge

There are three simple steps to follow before you can discharge your mortgage.

1. Complete and print the form

It’s important to complete the form as you can’t save an incomplete form and return to complete it later. Print out the form once you’re finished.

2. Read and sign the document

Make sure you’ve read and understood your document. Once it’s signed, you’ve given us authority to discharge your mortgage.

3. Scan and return

Scan the completed and signed form. Email it to discharge.authority@nab.com.au. Allow at least 10 business days before your preferred settlement date.
