Important update: NAB Bookkeeper is closing on 25 March 2026

If you’re currently using NAB Bookkeeper, we recommend taking the following steps before this date:

  • Download your data including transaction history, receipts, invoices and quotes, by following the instructions provided.
  • Consider alternative solutions that best suit your business needs.

NAB does not have access to any information you entered or uploaded to NAB Bookkeeper, such as receipt images or customer invoices, or any reports that you may have generated in NAB Bookkeeper. So, we can’t provide this information to you after NAB Bookkeeper has closed.

Why is NAB Bookkeeper closing?

We regularly review our product offerings to ensure they continue to meet the needs of our customers. After careful consideration, NAB Bookkeeper, our bookkeeping service provided via Thriday, will be closing.

When will NAB Bookkeeper be turned off?

NAB Bookkeeper will no longer be available from 25 March 2026. After this date, you will no longer be able to access the service or any data stored within it.

What do I need to do before the service ends?

What happens if I don’t download my data in time?

After 25 March 2026, you will no longer be able to access NAB Bookkeeper or retrieve your data. We strongly encourage you to download your information before this date.

After NAB Bookkeeper closes, NAB will not have access to any data or documents from NAB Bookkeeper, and we will not be able to supply you with this information should you request it from NAB in the future.

Can I continue lodging my BAS through Thriday Accounting?

If you use Thriday Accounting as your tax agent for BAS lodgement, you will no longer be able to lodge BAS through NAB Bookkeeper after 25 March 2026. To continue using Thriday Accounting, you will need to set up new service agreement directly with Thriday. The tax service terms and pricing will be different. What alternative tools can I use when NAB Bookkeeper closes?

NAB Bookkeeper: how to download my data FAQs

  3. On the right side, Select the Export icon.
  4. Select the transactions you want to export.
  5. Select File Type.
  6. Select Export.

  1. Login to NAB Bookkeeper
  2. From Home, Select Accounts.
  3.  Locate your transaction and select View All Details.
  4. In the File row, select the attached file. A pop-up page will display.
  5. Select the Download icon.

Receipts

See instructions below for how to filter transactions that have a receipt attached.

  1. Login to NAB Bookkeeper.
  2. From Home, Select Accounts.
  3. Select the Receipts tab.
  4. Locate your receipt and select the 3 vertical dots next to it.
  5. Select Download.

Each receipt needs to be downloaded separately.

How do I filter for transactions that have a receipt attached
Instructions
  1. Login to NAB Bookkeeper.
  2. From Home, Select Accounts.
  3. On the right of the screen, Select the Filter icon. A pop-up page will display.
  4. At the bottom of the pop-up, tick the Transactions with a receipt or Transactions without a receipt box.
  5. Select Apply filter. Your filtered receipt(s) will display.
Quotes
Instructions

When sending a quote, you have the option to receive a copy via email. Please check your inbox for any previously sent quotes.

Alternatively, follow the below:

  1. Login to NAB Bookkeeper.
  2. From Home, Select Invoices.
  3. Select the Quotes tab.
  4. Locate your Quote and Select the 3 vertical dots next to it.
  5. Select Download.

Each quote needs to be downloaded separately.

Invoices
Instructions

When sending an invoice, you have the option to receive a copy via email. Please check your inbox for any previously sent invoices.

Alternatively, follow the below:

  1. Login to NAB Bookkeeper,
  2. From Home, Select Invoices.
  3. Select the Invoices tab.
  4. Locate the Invoice and Select the 3 vertical dots next to it.
  5. Select Download.

Each invoice needs to be downloaded separately.

Download my attachments uploaded to Income or Expenses items added under Manage Balances
Instructions
  1. Login to NAB Bookkeeper.
  2. From Home, Select Tax.
  3. Select the Manage balances tab. Expense and income items with attached files have a file icon next to the Description.
  4. Locate your income or expense item and select the 3 vertical dots next to it.
  5. Select View Attachment. A pop up of the attachment will display.
  6. Select the Download icon.

Each uploaded attachment needs to be downloaded separately.

Financial reports (Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Balance Sheet, Expense Export, Income Export)

  1. Login to NAB Bookkeeper.
  2. From Home, Select Tax.
  3. Select Financial reports
  4. Select the desired report.
  5. Select Export CSV, or
  6. Select View PDF, then Select Download icon.
Assets and Liabilities information Manage Balances

How do I add or remove accounts from NAB Bookkeeper?

  1. Login to NAB Internet Banking with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  2. Select the Products tab in the top navigation bar. 
  3. In the Products dropdown, select NAB Bookkeeper.
  4. On the right pane, select Manage my subscription.
  5. Next to ‘Linked accounts’, select Edit.
  6. Select or deselect accounts as desired and then select Save.
  7. Your linked accounts will now be updated. The update may take anywhere from 1hr to 24hrs to be visible.

Accessing NAB Bookkeeper

How do I access NAB Bookkeeper once I’ve signed up?

NAB Internet Banking

  1. Login to NAB Internet Banking with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  2. Select the Products tab in the top navigation bar. 
  3. In the Products dropdown, select NAB Bookkeeper.
  4. On the right pane, select Launch NAB Bookkeeper
  5. Click OK, got it.

NAB app

  1. Login to the NAB app (with the iOS or Android version) with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  2. For iOS, tap the More menu and select Bookkeeping.
  3. For Android, tap the Hamburger menu and select Bookkeeping.
  4. Tap Launch NAB Bookkeeper. This will open in your phone’s browser app.

Which NAB ID do I login to NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app with to access NAB Bookkeeper?

Login to NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app with the same NAB ID you use to view and manage your NAB business accounts.

If you have different businesses linked to the same NAB ID, choose the business entity you'd like to access for NAB Bookkeeper.

Who can access my NAB Bookkeeper?

Only the owners of the business can access the business’s NAB Bookkeeper profile.

Can I give access to NAB Bookkeeper to someone else?

No, NAB Bookkeeper only supports use by business owners. If there are multiple business owners, only one business owner needs to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper. This will then be visible to the other business owners when they login to NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app with their own NAB ID (if business accounts are linked).

You won’t be able to give access to someone who is not an owner of the business. 

Can I use the same NAB Bookkeeper subscription for more than one business?

No, each business must have its own NAB Bookkeeper subscription. If you own multiple businesses, then you will need to sign up for NAB Bookkeeper for each business individually.

Can I access or view more than one business’s NAB Bookkeeper profile at a time?

No, you can only access or view one business’s NAB Bookkeeper profile at a time. If you own multiple businesses, each business must have its own NAB Bookkeeper profile to ensure accounting records are kept separate for each business for tax purposes.

Managing my subscription

How can I check where my NAB Bookkeeper subscription is charged to?

  1. Login via nab.com.au/bookkeeping or login to the NAB app and tap on ‘Bookkeeping’.
  2. Select ‘Manage subscription’.
  3. The billing account is listed under the heading NAB Bookkeeper subscription.

Where do I find the tax invoice for my NAB Bookkeeper subscription payment?

NAB Internet Banking – Log in with Business NAB ID

  1. Login to NAB Internet Banking.
  2. Select ‘Profile & Settings’.
  3. Select ‘Tax invoice’.

NAB Internet Banking – Log in with Personal NAB ID

  1. Login to NAB Internet Banking.
  2. Click on the magnifying glass in the top banner and search for ‘Tax Invoice’.
  3. Select ‘Tax Invoice’.

Please note: Your tax invoice is not accessible via the NAB app.

How do I cancel my NAB Bookkeeper subscription?

Before you cancel your NAB Bookkeeper subscription, we recommend you download your accounting data including statements and reports for tax and reporting purposes.
You will not be able to access the data once the subscription is cancelled and you may not be able to access the data if you re-enrol your subscription at a subsequent financial year.

NAB Internet Banking

  1. Login to NAB Internet Banking with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  2. Select the Products tab in the top navigation bar. 
  3. In the Products dropdown, select NAB Bookkeeper.
    If you do not see the NAB Bookkeeper option in the dropdown, click Products instead. In the Products page, select the Business category tab and then click the NAB Bookkeeper tile. You may need to select the business entity you want to cancel the NAB Bookkeeper subscription for.
  4. On the right pane, select Manage my subscription.
  5. At the bottom of the screen, select Cancel subscription.
  6. By cancelling your subscription, you will stop sharing your NAB business account information, account balances, transaction history and contact details with NAB Bookkeeper. We recommend you backup and download your NAB Bookkeeper data before cancelling your subscription.
    Where you cancel your subscription:
    • During a free trial period, you will only have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the end of that day (11:59PM AEST/AEDT) unless otherwise indicated; and
    • At any other time, you will continue to have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the end of your billing month.
  7. Select Cancel NAB Bookkeeper subscription.
  8. Click Yes, cancel subscription to confirm the cancellation.
  9. All business owners will receive an email about the NAB Bookkeeper subscription cancellation. You will still have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the subscription end date which shows at the bottom of the screen.

NAB app

  1. Login to the NAB app (IOS or android) with your NAB ID linked to your NAB Business accounts.
    • For iOS, tap the More menu and select Bookkeeping.
    • For Android, tap the Hamburger menu and select Bookkeeping.
  2. Select Manage my subscription.
  3. At the bottom of the screen, select Cancel subscription.
  4. By cancelling your subscription, you will stop sharing your NAB business account, along with any information, account balances, transaction history and contact details associated with NAB Bookkeeper. We recommend you backup and download your NAB Bookkeeper data before cancelling your subscription.
  5. Where you cancel your subscription:
    • During a free trial period, you will only have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the end of that day (11:59PM AEST/AEDT) unless otherwise indicated; and
    • At any other time, you will continue to have access to NAB Bookkeeper until the end of your billing month.
  6. Select Cancel NAB Bookkeeper subscription.

Managing my subscription

How do I submit a BAS lodgement in NAB Bookkeeper?

NAB Internet Banking

  • Login to NAB Internet Banking with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  • Select the Products tab in the top navigation bar. 
  • In the Products dropdown, select NAB Bookkeeper
  • On the right pane, select Launch NAB Bookkeeper
  • Login to NAB Bookkeeper and select the Tax menu heading.
  • Select BAS Lodgement Services and follow the prompts.

NAB App

  • Login to the NAB app (with the iOS or Android version) with your NAB ID linked to your NAB business accounts.
  • For iOS, tap the More menu and select Bookkeeping.
  • For Android, tap the Hamburger menu and select Bookkeeping.
  • Tap Launch NAB Bookkeeper. This will open in your phone’s browser app.
  • Login to NAB Bookkeeper and select the Tax menu heading.
  • Select BAS Lodgement Services and follow the prompts.

Is NAB the tax agent? 

No, NAB is not a tax agent. You can use NAB Bookkeeper to access BAS lodgement service provided by Thriday Accounting (Thrive No 2 Pty Ltd ABN 26 677 263 606), which is a Registered Tax Agent under (No.26262416).

I have lodged my BAS using NAB Bookkeeper and would like to speak to someone for advice.

If you are looking for general tax advice, you will need to speak with your registered tax agent as NAB does not provide any tax or BAS service and/or advice.

Do I need to change my registered tax agent if I lodge my BAS via NAB Bookkeeper? 

Yes, you will need to appoint Thriday Accounting as the registered tax agent to lodge your BAS via NAB Bookkeeper. You can appoint them as your registered tax agent as part of lodging your BAS via NAB Bookkeeper.

Is the BAS lodgement fee included as part of my NAB Bookkeeper monthly subscription fee?

The fee for the BAS lodgement service is a separate fee and charged per lodgement. This fee is not included in the monthly NAB Bookkeeper subscription fee.
