Eligibility criteria

You're 18 years or older

You’re applying as a sole applicant. You’ll have all the repayment obligations, even if someone else will be receiving a substantial benefit from the loan

You're receiving a regular income
-
You’re an Australian resident for tax purposes
-
You're an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or non-resident holding an acceptable Temporary Residency Visa.

What you can't use a personal loan for
Have these items ready
I already bank with NAB
If you’re an existing NAB customer, save time by using your NAB ID to:
- pre-fill personal details
- pre-fill NAB financial details.
Have the following ready before you start your application:

Your personal NAB ID (you’ll find this on the back of your NAB card, or in your NAB app by tapping Profile then My Details).

Driver’s licence number (if you have one).

Employment details for the past three years.
-
Addresses you've lived at in the last three years.
-
Your financial information, including income, assets, debts and expenses.

An account to nominate for the disbursement of your loan funds.
Important:
If your loan is approved, to receive your loan funds you’ll need to choose a bank account for a direct debit. This way, we can take your repayments automatically.
- NAB joint accounts can't be used for a direct debit for new loans.
- You'll need to use either:
- an eligible NAB transaction account in your name only, or
- an account from another bank.
- If you don’t have a NAB transaction account in your sole name or an account with another bank, you can still receive your funds without setting up a direct debit.
- Once your loan is set up, you can use an eligible NAB joint account for a direct debit to make repayments.

ID help for First Nations peoples
If you're Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and you don't have any of the required forms of identification, please call First Nations support on 1800 966 100 Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 7:00pm (AEST/AEDT) or visit your nearest NAB branch.
I don’t bank with NAB yet
If you’re a new customer, you’ll need to provide the following:

At least one form of ID, such as your Australian driver’s licence, Australian passport or international passport.

Employment details for the past three years.

Your financial information, including income, assets, debts and expenses.

What happens after I apply?

Get a decision within 60 seconds - including your indicative interest rate.

We’ll need to verify the information in your application. If you currently bank with NAB, we’ll attempt to do this immediately, otherwise we’ll send you an email requesting additional documents we need to finalise your approval.

If we can’t verify your information automatically, you’ll be assigned a dedicated case manager within 1-2 business days to review your application. You don’t need to contact us; we’ll reach out if we need more information.

Once you're unconditionally approved, you’ll receive an SMS notification and an email with a link to NAB's online Application Tracker. Before you can receive your funds, you’ll need to review and accept your loan offer.

After accepting your loan offer, your funds will be deposited into your nominated account usually within 1 business day for NAB accounts, but allow up to 3 business days for funds to arrive in your account.
