Name: Angie Chan
Your role: Broker Associate, Mortgage Retention
Region: Docklands, Victoria
What’s your story?
I am a mother of two teenagers with a Malaysian heritage. I came to Australia as a University student in Banking and Finance and absolutely fell in love with Melbourne. NAB was my first job in Australia and 19 years on, I am still as passionate about working here as when I first started.
How have you made a difference?
I am a firm believer in doing the best we can and exploring all possibilities. In the workplace, I was part of the pioneering broker associates team helping to improve retention. With the many years of experience I’ve had at NAB, I worked through the documentation processes and identified knowledge gaps to better assist new bankers coming into the retention space.
On a personal note, I am coming to terms with my father’s newly diagnosed Alzheimer’s disease and learning everything I can in a limited time to focus on how to be a better support for him. I have involved my kids in my efforts and have seen a huge difference in their attitudes and personal development as a result. I’m very proud of this.
What are you passionate about?
I am interested in developing meaningful relationships and I’m not afraid of being open, real and vulnerable with others. From the stories of past mistakes and regrets, we learn to be more resilient and appreciative of what we have. I truly believe that as I age, nothing is more important than the people in our lives and the people who cross our paths. Take the time, is my motto.
