Name: Bernice Chan
Your role: Consultant - Business Continuity, Incident & Crisis Management
Region: Docklands, Victoria
What’s your story?
I am originally from Malaysia and moved to Australia 15 years ago to further my studies. Since joining NAB in 2008, I have worked with great people and teams in a variety of challenging and rewarding roles across front line banking, business fulfilment and risk management.
How have you made a difference?
One thing my past roles have taught me is the importance of having the correct information for any decision making. This principle applies to all areas of the bank from customer applications, reporting, risk management, and business continuity. This has challenged me to build various tools and spread sheets for colleagues and stakeholders to access the correct information and reports as they require. My current project is creating a displacement strategy using three datasets from different divisions to accurately map the location of critical teams. This will allow my team to effectively relocate critical processes and ensure minimal impacts to the bank in the event of a commercial building displacement.
What are you passionate about?
Curiosity forms a key part of who I am. At work, I am motivated by knowing that I can make a difference. I constantly strive to learn, explore and discover what and how I can do better. Outside of work, I Iove to explore new places, different cultures and exotic food.
