Name: Deryanur Uzuncakmak
Your role: Manager, Product Delivery, Business Lending Products
Region: Melbourne, Victoria
What’s your story?
After completing my degree in Banking and Finance at University, I started my career off at a Finance Broking firm where I supported consumer and business customer lending portfolios and relationships along with providing risk and superannuation financial advice. I then joined NAB and have since been here for over ten years. I’ve gained expertise in transformational design and project delivery, which I used to further my career and made the leap into delivery projects streams, process improvements and working on initiatives that make lending better.
How have you made a difference?
My purpose in banking started when I was in my early teens. I grew up in a family with big dreams but with limited English, the angst of not knowing how to request financial backing was a genuine fear. On one occasion I walked into a branch with my parents (supposedly to help them translate any difficult conversations) and the support, care and exceptional service which was provided resulted in us walking out with the excitement of a new home, new business and many investment opportunities. This very feeling is what planted the desire in me to have a career in banking as I wanted to be part of providing a customer centric service in assisting and enabling dreams to come true with ease. Given my role at NAB is focused on product change, design and delivery to make processes, services and products easier for our customers, every opportunity I get to deliver changes and make a difference for our customers is rewarding.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about applying my skills in practical thinking and engage with multiple levels of the business to apply and deliver on opportunities to improve for our customers. I work hard to see the change through to the end and then enjoy seeing how it makes a difference for our customers, people and NAB as a whole. Not discounting that, outside of work, I have a six year old boy who I love spending quality time with and also enjoy recreational activities where I can do fun stuff!
