Bernice enjoys exploring new places and different cultures.
Name: Emily Gornalle
Your role: Analyst, Anti-Money Laundering
Location: Melbourne, Victoria
What’s your story?
I’m an analyst, word-smith and community builder who wants to make the world a kinder place.
How have you made a difference?
I run a group for and educate people about Asexuality – because I want people to say ‘LGBTQIA’ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual) and know what the A stands for, and for it to be included in the first place. I want those who come after me to have always had support, and to have never known a world that could be anything less than accepting of who they are.
I volunteer for programs to support women in technology, both as a career and in general, because tech literacy is something that’s expected of people, but so rarely taught properly.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about education and community - from queer issues to opening up the technology scene for women. Who you are or aren’t attracted to shouldn’t dictate how you’re treated by others, and gender shouldn’t matter when it comes to embracing either who or what you love.
