What’s your story?
I’m from Malaysia and moved to Melbourne for Uni in 2008. After I graduated, I set a goal to give myself two years to explore new opportunities and develop professionally - it’s been six yars since and I’m still here at NAB! I joined the bank in December 2014 on a temp assignment with the Self-Managed Super Fund Admin team, which led to an opportunity in the WRAP Payments team. I am currently a Reconciliations Analyst within Wealth Operations and have been here for the past 18 months and have truly enjoyed my time here!
How have you made a difference?
The culture at NAB took me by surprise – I didn’t realise how much I could resonate with an organisation until I joined NAB. Values that I strive to live by are to do the right thing even when nobody is watching and to treat our customers the same way I want to be treated as a customer. These set the basis in a lot of what I do, and drives me to make better decisions for our customers and our business. I’m also not afraid to speak up, even if it means challenging the status quo especially when things aren’t working the way it should be – having honest, respectful conversations challenges us to get out of our comfort zone, which is necessary to move forward.
What are you passionate about?
Recently, someone asked me what my goal in life was – it was a bit early in the morning and I was caught off guard by the question, but nevertheless it got me thinking. One of the things that popped in mind was that I wanted to live my life knowing that I have been able to make a positive difference in someone else’ lives – enough to give them hope, to believe in themselves, and for them to keep going!
