Michael's proud of his family and always puts them first.
Name: Genevieve Kindt
Your role: Branch Manager, Thuringowa
Region: Thuringowa, Queensland
What’s your story?
I am married with two grown-up daughters and three grandchildren. My association with the bank goes back to 1977. I was 19 years old and my husband, Robb, was working at CBC which is now known as NAB. I then started at NAB myself in 1986 as a part-time teller. Over the years I’ve managed to work my way up from a teller to a Branch Manager. I love looking at ways we can solve problems and make things easy for our customers and for our teams.
How have you made a difference?
I have always focussed 100% on the customer and try to lead by example with my team. I have instilled in my team that the customer is always at the heart of everything we do and that everything we do, we do for the customer. It’s great to see that the new NAB vision (be Australia’s leading bank, trusted by customers for exceptional service) aligns with these values. I also am involved with Lions Youth of the Year representing NAB in our community and have been a judge for so many years now that last year I was able to be the judge on the National Final. It always gives me hope for the future when you interview young ambassadors and know that we are in great hands. One day I would like to use my skills to go into schools and offer education on basic financial skills that I feel are lacking as part of today’s education.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about my family and travel. My family background and history fascinates to me. Travel lets me see different places and cultures and allows me to see how different places link to my family’s history. I always come back from travelling with new perspectives and an appreciation for all of the ways each country is different. It’s always humbling to see that really, humans are all the same and we all want the same things no matter where we live. I’ve found that travel can also teach you to be more accepting of the people you come across in life, and that everyone has their own special quirks. This is particularly insightful when it comes to leading my team and developing their strengths to service customers with all sorts of needs.
