Name: Hui-Yee Khaw
Your role: Senior Business Analyst
Region: Docklands, Victoria
What’s your story?
I was born in Malaysia, a multi-cultural place where I learnt to speak three languages and multiple dialects. My learning journey continued when I moved to Melbourne alone for tertiary education. Since joining NAB in 2007, I have worked across business operations, compliance and technology transformation in the custodian division. I am learning the human-centred design approach to further enhance the customer experience with NAB in my current role as a business analyst.
How have you made a difference?
I have a favourite saying: "a lot of different flowers make a bouquet”. Growing up in a culturally diverse environment, I’ve learnt to respect and appreciate multiplicity. This belief continues in NAB, a place that truly embraces diversity and supports equality. Together with my professional experiences, I’ve been fortunate to be given an opportunity to bring a dynamic and empathetic perspective into the process of designing a more connected and interactive customer experience. By being attentive and curious, I’ve helped validate a new footprint concept and roll out a pilot digital solution to one of our new branches, bringing us a step closer to the One NAB Plan.
In addition, through a series of NAB sponsored community engagement programs, I’ve mentored some protégés from a disadvantaged group and helped them reposition themselves in the job-searching journey.
What are you passionate about?
My passion is sorting things out, sometimes in a very literal sense. As our planet gets more crowded and hotter, I am trying to practice a more sustainable way of living. At times I even find myself ruminating on the idea of running a campaign at NAB to achieve low or zero waste in our office environment.
