Name: Jani Garrett
Your role: Small Business Banker
Region: Melbourne, Victoria
What’s your story?
After twenty years of comfort living with my family in New Zealand, moving to Australia fresh out of university was a courageous move for me. My ambition was to further develop in my chosen field of study in Business, which helped me to overcome the uneasy mix of apprehension and discomfort. Four years on, I have landed my dream job as a Business Banker and purchased my first home.
How have you made a difference?
Fortunately, I love working in the Small Business Banking world. To me, it is difficult to surpass the gratification of being able to closely follow alongside my business clients – from their first account opening, to their business lending proposals and finance requests, all the way through to the business succession plan. There is a real sense of accomplishment knowing that I play a pivotal role in their journey. Although Business Banking is generally perceived to be complex, the challenges it bring are what gets me out of bed in the morning.
What are you passionate about?
Aside from my regular work agenda, I often enjoy a social bash with racquet sports, especially tennis and squash. After recently visiting Margret River in WA, I have made a bucket list commitment to complete a shoreline, roundtrip of Australia.
