Nyari joined NAB from the African Australian Inclusion Program and has never looked back.
Name: Jessica Marciano
Your role: Mobile Banker
Region: Mildura, Victoria
What’s your story?
I was born and bred in Mildura. I come from a hardworking Italian background from whom my Nonna was one of the first Italian migrants to migrate to the region back in 1921. The family instilled in me that hard work with an equal balance of fair work ethic goes a long way in life. My passion for business development led me to pursue a career in banking. I love taking a business from nothing and building it into something.
How have you made a difference?
I love helping people. I love seeing my customers in their shops or in town, and when they say “Hi Jess, can you help my relative out?” I feel very proud.
I had a customer who was an ex-bankrupt who came to me for a loan. When I hit the ‘assess’ button, we both just looked at each other in silence and waited. When it was approved, she started crying and so did I. It felt so special to be able to help her.
What are you passionate about?
I love my family dearly. I also love to travel, particularly when I meet new people along the way. I’m a bit of a workaholic, so when I’m not working at NAB, I’m helping with the family business.
