Name: Jonathan Hanley
Your role: Small Business Banker
Region: Ballina, New South Wales
What’s your story?
I joined NAB as a Wholesale Graduate in Melbourne, and got a taste for all things finance and banking. After a few years there and working in a few different teams, I moved back to Byron Bay to be a Business Banker to local businesses and help them to achieve their goals.
How have you made a difference?
I’ve made a difference by being a trusted advisor for my customers throughout their business and family life cycle. It’s great to be able to meet and engage with people and hear what they would like to achieve and then being entrusted by them to put them on a path to achieve those goals. For one of my customers, it was opening up a mobile coffee van to capitalise on a market opportunity. For other customers, it was the opportunity to take over the family business. And for a lot of others, it was to build their dream home near the beach!
What are you passionate about?
I’m an avid surfer and I try to make it out each morning before work. I also compete at a local level, and I often find a way to catch up with my customers over a “board meeting”. Outside of surfing, I love to cook, make and grow.
