Meet Kiri

Name: Kiri Blias

Your role: Business Banking Manager

Region: Dandenong South, Victoria

What’s your story?

I grew up working in my parent’s café. I spent time at the café peeling potatoes and onions from when I was five years old right through to when I finished my Bachelor in Economics! I am a people person and find myself forever curious about others and what drives them. The Economist in me also loves to analyse. The combination of meeting interesting customers, being able to analyse financials and being able to help my clients to achieve their goals is what keeps me in business banking.

How have you made a difference?

An integral part of my role is to understand each customer and make sure that our offering suits their individual needs. Growing up with parents who owned their own business means I can easily put myself in my client’s shoes. Every industry and customer is different which is why taking the time to understand the client’s needs is so critical. Something I’ll never forget was a time when I assisted a rapidly growing business with cash-flow funding. Seeing the customer release new product lines and see the business have success is incredibly rewarding as a Business Banker. This particular customer told me that “no one understood our business quite like you have” and it’s one of the best compliments I’ve ever received.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about learning and trying new things. You never know what you’re going to love next! I have gone from being addicted to salsa dancing to joining a Thai kickboxing gym. This is also why I love to travel, not only do you see beautiful cities and countries but you get to meet new people, try new foods and learn about different cultures. Everyone has something to offer and you have the opportunity to learn from every experience.
