Name: Liz Simmers
Your role: Business Banker, Micro and Small Business
Region: Warick, Queensland
What’s your story?
I was married at 19, and at 21, my husband and I started our first business, an Automotive Spare Parts store, which we ran for 11 years. During that time, I had three gorgeous kids, two boys and one girl. A friend of mine from school worked at NAB and asked if I would like to do some casual teller work, and as my youngest was one and I had forgotten all my adult words, I thought that it sounded fun! Thirteen years later I am still here and I’m now proud to be a Small Business Banker.
How have you made a difference?
I am very involved in my school and local community. I am Vice President of our school P & F, and have served on three other committees in town in recent years. My youngest two kids are in a pipe band; I am the roadie at the many community performances and do a lot of fundraising. I love to see my customers out in the community, and feel so proud of them when I see their businesses do well.
What are you passionate about?
I love to travel, read and spend time with my family including my three children who are now 20, 16 and 14.
