Name: Marc Lim
Your role: Manager, The Village
Region: Docklands, Victoria
What’s your story?
Growing up, my ambition was to be a CFO of a large multi-national company – so I studied commerce and pursued relevant finance roles. Then my goal changed to being a CEO of a not-for-profit organisation when I worked in NAB’s corporate responsibility team. And now, working in The Village and being surrounded by entrepreneurs and thought leaders – I truly feel the world is my oyster.
How have you made a difference?
At NAB, we know that running your own business can be pretty lonely. And we know that starting a business can be both exhilarating and terrifying. We also know that there is so much information out there to help businesses succeed, but that can be very overwhelming.
This is why I do what I do – curating a community of business owners, where they can grow their business through meaningful connections and shared learning, all in a space called The Village. To see businesses ‘outgrow’ The Village makes me feel like a proud parent. I always use the phrase, you never forget your Year 1 teacher – that first person (or The Village) that gave you that start.
What are you passionate about?
Being the 5th judge on The Voice, being Melbourne’s #1 KFC fan, and on a serious note – ensuring that everything I do creates a social impact.
