Donna is driven to exceed the expectations of her customers.
Name: Mil Kairouz
Your role: Head of Mobile Banking VIC/TAS
Region: Melbourne, Victoria
What’s your story?
I started my working life with family in the meat and livestock industry and never imagined leaving this field until one day, when I needed a bank to help me to purchase my first home. The impact that this process had on me was profound. It made me question the path I was on, my aspirations and ultimately, what I wanted to do with my career. From there, I was lucky enough to secure a position as a lending manager and have enjoyed replicating home loan experience for my customers and helping them to achieve their dreams.
While banking and the meat Industry may not seem related, the lessons forged in the latter; trust, loyalty, work ethic and delivering for customers, are all values that I use now in my banking career.
Today, I’m fortunate enough to lead and support the Retail Mobile Banking team in Victoria and Tasmania. I’m proud of the work my people do, and the values they demonstrate to support our customers in achieving their goals.
How have you made a difference?
My team and I are dedicated to helping customers to achieve the great Australian dream of owning a home. For many, navigating through the process in pursuit of a better life can be a daunting task. We try to make it as simple and convenient as we can. My role in this is to support and enable our bankers to be the best they can be for our customers. In this pursuit, I’ve had the pleasure of developing and mentoring many leaders and bankers. Seeing our people grow to support more customers more effectively is what gives me the most reward and it always drive my enthusiasm to new heights.
I aim to provide perspective to help understand our customers’ needs. I recently supported Good Shepherd Microfinance (an organisation backed by NAB) in a two-week skilled volunteering capacity. This experience broadened my perspective of societal challenges around financial inclusion and the responsibility that comes with being an agent of facilitating home ownership.
What are you passionate about?
First and foremost, it’s faith and family. I love nothing more than spending time with my four kids. Their humour, inquisitive nature and love constantly drives me to be my very best in all aspects of life. I’m also proud to work for a phenomenal organisation that supports their employees and the community. Apart from that it’s food (meat please!), sport (go Pies!) and music (folk rock preferably).
