Meet Nikita

Name: Nikita Dave

Your role: Partnerships & Execution, Consumer Lending

Region: Docklands, Victoria

What’s your story?

As I sat in my school and university classes, I often questioned how the complex customer and business case studies in my exam paper would be solved “in the real world”. Soon after completing my BCOM degree at The University of Melbourne, I started at NAB in 2016 and very quickly learnt just how much of a tangible difference we make for our customers, community and business. I feel motivated and inspired by my leaders and colleagues to challenge myself, think outside the box, and have fun along the way.

How have you made a difference?

I had the opportunity to support the community as a graduate through the 2016 Graduate Major Fundraiser, where our cohort raised much needed funds for the Australian Childhood Foundation (ACF). I led the seed fundraising efforts which raised approximately $9,000 to help the broader team organise a largely successful fundraising event for the ACF. I’m now fairly confident in my ability to run a bake sale and in my understanding of which goodies sell the best!

Now working in the Consumer Lending team, I find every day interesting, challenging and rewarding. I get to learn about the opportunities we have as a bank in a rapidly evolving industry and contribute to facilitating this change within the business.

What are you passionate about?

Society has taken strides towards achieving diversity, but we still have a fair way to go before we can say that people of different genders, cultures and experiences are respected equally by our community and government. I’m passionate about playing a role in this change as I’ve grown up around inspiring women, with a strong sense of my heritage and recognise the opportunity large businesses have to advocate and enable diversity.

Whilst at school and university, a lot of my time was spent with a dance group in a studio or performing Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary dance styles across Melbourne and interstate. There’s definitely nothing like the adrenaline rush before going on stage!
