Meet Sayanti

Name: Sayanti Sarkar

Your role: Senior Business Analyst

Region: Docklands, Victoria

What’s your story?

I was born in Kolkata, India and completed my studies there. I started working in consulting in India and eventually moved to Australia in 2012. My Australian story has been very exciting and full of ups and downs. When my partner and I moved to Adelaide, we arrived with three suitcases. We had a steep learning curve in front of us, which started with understanding how Australia works, what are the cultural nuisances, how to find jobs, how to drive and many small things which we have picked up over the span of six years. In 2015, we took a brave step and moved to Melbourne as we thought it was better matched to our aspirations. We started from scratch again, and didn’t know anyone in Melbourne. However this city has welcomed us with open arms and I can safely say that this is home. Living in Melbourne also led me to my job at NAB, which I think is the best place I have ever worked.

How have you made a difference?

In my day job, I work for various project teams to understand customer and stakeholder needs, especially in the digital space. I have worked in the credit cards space and have implemented changes which make self-service easier for customers.

What are you passionate about?

My son and my husband are the two things in life I am most passionate about. Apart from that, I am passionate about health and fitness and trying to work out at least four times a week. I also love reading; I am always in the middle of reading another fiction novel.
