What’s your story?
I grew up in country Victoria in the town of Traralgon, where I lived for the first 17 years of my life. The local area at the time was predominately characterised by coal fired power stations, farming, and timber, and so when my dad came home one day with a ZX Spectrum computer in the early 80s this was a different and exciting new world. I knew almost immediately my future was going to be in technology. I still remember coding some of my first programs to audio cassette and the sound it made loading a program into the Spectrum’s massive 16 KB of memory. As an electrical engineer, my father was also a keen hobbyist and ensured we were constantly updated with the latest tech, whether it be moving up from 256 colours, those large floppy disks, or even our first computer mouse! I am still incredibly grateful for the small things he did to nurture and encourage my interests and my growth, and how that has shaped me into the person I am today and enabled the fantastic career I have enjoyed at NAB.
How have you made a difference?
I have had the incredible privilege of having had (and continue to have!) some amazing leaders at NAB. I’ve always aspired to pay this forward by working to be the sort of leader, coach and mentor who has inspired me, and to engage in opportunities where this can add value. I have been particularly proud to have worked with people early in their careers through the Industry Based Learning and Graduate programs, and to see many of them go on to achieve great things, and become great leaders themselves. I’ve found that in every situation, when you put people first, everything else takes care of itself. I most enjoy the opportunities I’ve had to work with and shape high performing teams, able to deliver exceptional service.
What are you passionate about?
I’ve always had a passion for technology, but with a focus on how it can be used to augment capability, improve process, and become part of human centred delivery. This has meant I tend to gravitate towards large transformation initiatives at NAB and so have found myself on a range of programs that have worked tirelessly and with a real passion to innovate and improve our customer’s experience of our products and services. I’m currently in the Enterprise Data team embarking on another of these amazing journeys with the NAB Data Hub, and looking forward to bringing that capability to life for our people and our customers.
