RBA transparency reporting | Average Merchant service fees - NAB
What is changing?
As part of the Reserve Bank of Australia’s (RBA) payments reforms, new transparency requirements will apply from 30 October 2026. The changes aim to make it easier for businesses to understand and compare the costs of accepting card payments.
What information can I review?
You can review average merchant service fee information for small, medium and all direct-sized businesses.
The reporting also provides clearer comparisons of payment acceptance costs across:
- Credit and debit or prepaid cards
- Domestic and international card transactions
- Card-present (in-store) and card-not-present (online) transactions
Merchant Service Fee summary
The Average Merchant Service Fee Reporting period July to September 2026 (PDF, 122KB) shown in the table is the average fees paid by NAB merchants with a similar level of card payment turnover.
Your business may pay a different amount depending on factors such as the types of cards your customers use and your individual pricing arrangement.
The figures are designed to help you compare your Merchant Service Fees with similar businesses. They are not your individual Merchant Service Fee or a complete representation of all the costs associated with accepting card payments.
