Key points

  • NAB investing $1.3 million in a new full-service branch at Broadway Shopping Centre.

  • NAB to invest a further $1.5 million refurbishing its Haymarket branch.

  • Investments will deliver modern spaces and continued support for customers across inner Sydney.

NAB is investing $2.8 million across two inner-Sydney branches, with a new location opening at Broadway Shopping Centre and a major refurbishment planned for Haymarket.

The new $1.3 million Broadway branch will open in November, bringing Saturday trading and improved customer meeting spaces to one of Sydney’s busiest precincts.

NAB will also invest $1.5 million to refurbish its existing Haymarket branch. The branch will temporarily close on Friday 9 October for refurbishment and is expected to reopen in December.

NAB Executive Retail NSW Tony Story said the investments would deliver upgraded branches and improved spaces for inner-Sydney customers.

“We’re investing $2.8 million across Broadway and Haymarket because we know there are times when sitting down with a banker makes all the difference,” Mr Story said.

“Broadway will offer a new, larger branch with Saturday trading, while Haymarket will be upgraded to create a better space for customers and our team. Together, these investments will strengthen the support available to people and businesses across inner Sydney.”

The Broadway branch will be one of more than 30 NAB branches nationally open on Saturdays. As part of the transition, the Oxford Square and Newtown branches will close, with team members relocating to Broadway and other nearby NAB branches to continue supporting customers in the area.

Broadway Branch Manager Kaden Melchiore said the team was looking forward to welcoming customers into the new branch.

“Many of our customers already know the team from our nearby branches, so they’ll continue to be supported by local bankers who understand their needs,” Mr Melchiore said.

Customers will continue to have access to other NAB branches and digital banking services while the Haymarket refurbishment is underway. Business and small business customers will continue to work with their existing bankers.

Notes to editors:

  • Customers and team members from Oxford Square and Newtown will transition to Broadway and other NAB branches across inner Sydney.

  • Investment figures exclude GST, contingency and technology.
