Important Upcoming Complimentary Insurance changes

Effective 15 May 2026 – For some NAB cards, International Travel, Domestic Travel and Rental Vehicle Excess Insurances will be removed. For some other NAB cards, the cover period for International Travel Insurance will be reduced.

The following NAB cards include complimentary purchase protection insurance. 

Changes to complimentary insurances

From 15 May 2026, these cards below will no longer have complimentary International and Domestic Travel Insurances, and Rental Vehicle Excess Insurance in Australia.

  • NAB Rewards Platinum Credit Card
  • NAB Flybuys Rewards Credit Card
  • NAB Low Rate Platinum Credit Card
  • NAB Velocity Rewards Premium Credit Card
  • NAB Premium Credit Card
  • NAB Low Fee Platinum Credit Card

You may still be eligible for Cancellation Cover until 15 May 2026.

Eligible purchases

Cardholders are eligible for covered items purchased anywhere in the world or purchased as a gift and given to any permanent Australian resident, provided the entire purchase price of the covered item is charged to the accountholder’s card account.

Policy coverage

Designed to insure your covered item if it is stolen, accidentally damaged or permanently lost. Your item may be covered for 90 days from the date your take possession of the covered item.

What may be covered

The maximum sum insured is:

  • the purchase price of the item charged to the card account except for jewellery, watches and new works of art which are limited to $5,000 per claim; and

  • maximum total limit for all claims is $200,000 in any 12-month period per card account.

What isn’t covered

Examples of what’s not covered include:

  • the loss, theft or damage to, or of, items left behind in any hotel or motel room after you have checked out
  • loss or damage arising from any process of cleaning, repair or alteration.

AWP Australia Pty Ltd ABN 52 097 227 177 AFSL 245631, trading as Allianz Global Assistance (AGA), under a binder from the insurer, Allianz Australia Insurance Limited ABN 15 000 122 850 AFSL 234708 (Allianz), has issued an insurance group policy to National Australia Bank Limited ABN 12 004 044 937 AFSL and Australian credit licence 230686 (NAB) which allows eligible persons to claim under it as third-party beneficiaries. 

Access to the benefit of cover under the NAB card insurances is available to eligible NAB cardholders and other eligible third-party beneficiaries by operation of s48 of the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 (Cth).
