Meet Karen

Name: Karen Huxley

Your role: GM Audit, Corporate and Institutional and Business and Private Banking

Region: Sydney, New South Wales

What’s your story?

As a CPA, I’ve had a rewarding career across various industries including opportunities to work globally. I’ve worked at NAB for over 10 years and operate flexibly to balance my career with family. Audit enables me to ‘shine the light’ so we do the right things for customers and keep the bank safe.

How have you made a difference?

Global work experience ignited my passion in cross-cultural communication and diversity in leadership. Whilst working in Hong Kong, I helped to establish NAB’s Connecting Women Asia committee in September 2015 to accelerate gender equality and drive flexible work practices.

Upon returning to Australia, I launched NAB’s Cultural Inclusion Employee Resource Group in November 2017, with a vision to empower employees of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, to reach their full potential in leadership.

I am inspired about supporting our next generation of future leaders. I mentor and coach culturally diverse people, to support them with their transitions in managing cultural work differences.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about my family, health and well-being, and being a positive role model for future generations. Through audit work and as a life-long learner, I’m passionate about problem solving, understanding how things work and how things can be improved. I’m dedicated to creating an engaging, curious and inclusive culture.
