Interchange fees
The interchange fee is set by the card schemes (Visa, Mastercard®, eftpos® and UnionPay) and is paid by the acquirer (the Merchant's financial institution, in this case NAB) to the card issuer (the financial institution whose name is on the card). The fee per transaction varies depending upon the type of card, type of transaction and the method used to accept each transaction.
Interchange fees are charged per transaction and may be:
Merchant service fees
Mastercard®, Visa, eftpos® and UnionPay® merchant service fees are service fees charged by NAB for providing merchant services in respect of those payment schemes. They include technology, fraud and risk management, compliance and regulatory obligations, customer support and servicing. Depending on your pricing structure, they may also include your interchange fees and scheme fees.

NAB determines an applicable interchange rate for each statement cycle having regard to scheme‑set interchange rates and applies that rate to all UnionPay transaction categories.
