Our acquisition of Citi’s consumer banking business
In 2022, we announced our acquisition of the Citi consumer banking business in Australia. The integration is a significant step towards a simpler, more digital customer experience.
About the changes
NAB has been the provider of Citi branded products since 1 June 2022. In the next phase in our journey, we will move Citi branded deposit and home loan accounts to an equivalent NAB branded product. We’ll be doing this in phases, with Citi deposit and home loan products moving to a NAB branded product on 24 February 2024. We’ve recently sent communications about the changes to your registered email or mailing address.
If you hold a Citi branded credit card or personal loan, there is no change for now. You can continue to use your account as normal. We’ll contact you with plenty of notice of any change.
What happens next?
Up to and including 23 February 2024
You can continue to use your Citi transaction, savings, term deposit or home loan account and Citi Debit Mastercard as normal up to and including 23 February 2024. On 24 February 2024, your Citi account and linked debit card (if applicable) will be closed, and funds transferred to your NAB branded account.
If you have a transaction, savings or offset account, you will be sent your NAB branded account details and debit card (if applicable) early to make sure you have flexibility and sufficient time to set up NAB Internet Banking, PayID® and switch any direct debits or salary credits before your Citi branded account closes.
You should carefully read the ‘Summary of Changes and Variation Notice’ and important information sent to your registered email or mailing address which details next steps and further details.
Please note, if you have a home loan or term deposit you will receive your NAB branded account information separately from February 2024.
From 24 February 2024
On 24 February 2024, your Citi branded transaction, savings, term deposit, home loan account and debit cards will be closed, and the balance will be transferred to your NAB branded account. We’ll send you an SMS before this occurs and another SMS once the transfer is complete. If you have a Citi branded term deposit or home loan, you’ll receive your NAB branded account and log in information.
You’ll no longer be able to access your deposit or home loan account through the Citi Mobile® App and Citi Online. Instead, you can manage your accounts and payments through NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app and use your NAB branded debit card or digital wallet (if applicable) for purchases.
We’ve sent you communication detailing next steps, important dates, and helpful guides, and we’ll continue to communicate every step of the way.

Ensure your contact details are up to date within your Citi profile and carefully read the communication we sent to your registered email or mailing address, as it provides detailed information on what you need to do before and after your Citi branded account has moved.
If you already use NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app
If you already use NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app, and you currently have a Citi branded transaction, savings, or offset account, you may notice extra accounts alongside your existing NAB accounts from November 2023. These are the accounts your Citi balances will be moved to on 24 February 2024. We’ll send you an email (or mail) once your account is created in November 2023, but you may notice the account before the email reaches your inbox (or mail reaches your mailing address).
Keeping you safe
While we’ll send your NAB branded account details to you via email (or mailing address), it’s your choice to transfer funds and we won’t pressure you to do so. If you do choose to transfer funds to your NAB branded account, ensure you recognise the BSB, account number and name on the account before doing so. You can also find this information securely within NAB Internet Banking or the NAB app.
If you receive a call from us, we’ll never ask you to verify your identity over the phone, or ask for your credit card number, PIN or NAB Identification Number (NIN). NAB will never send you an email or an SMS asking you to verify your identity by clicking on a link. If you receive a suspicious message, do not click on any links or attachments.
