Our new security features
When you apply for select NAB products, we’ll ask you to take a selfie photo and scan your identity (ID) documents to verify it’s really you. This is one of our new security features to verify it’s you using your biometric face image and your documents. This feature reduces the risk of other people fraudulently using your identity.
If we ask you to verify your identity online during the application process and you consent, follow these simple steps
How to provide a selfie
- If you start your application on a desktop computer, you’ll be shown a QR code to scan with your smartphone to continue.
- You’ll need to allow NAB to access your smartphone camera.
- Tap the Next button to provide a biometric consent to let us match your facial image to your ID document.
- Find good lighting and remove anything covering your face.
- Move your face into the oval in the middle of the screen.
- Once the oval turns green, your image will be captured.
- Follow the prompts to complete the ID process.
How to scan your ID documents
- Have a physical ID document/s. If you’re 18 years or older, your ID document must be photographic.
- If you start your application on a desktop computer, you’ll be shown a QR code to scan with your smartphone to continue.
- You’ll need to allow NAB to access your smartphone camera.
- Place your ID on a flat surface with a light background.
- Make sure there is enough light and no glare.
- Place your ID within the photo frame, making sure all four corners of the document are visible.
- Once the photo frame turns green, your image will be captured.
- Follow the prompts to complete the ID process.
