Celebrating 20 years of NAB's partnership with AFL Auskick
Fifty NAB AFL Auskickers from across Australia will take on a team of sporting stars, entertainers and AFL personalities in a once-in-a-lifetime Grid Game experience at Marvel Stadium this weekend, celebrating 20 years of NAB’s partnership with AFL Auskick.
Taking place at halftime during St Kilda’s Round 21 clash against Sydney, the celebration of Australia’s leading participation program will see 50 Auskickers take the field against a team of 7 All Stars featuring comedian Andy Lee, former Hawk Chad Wingard, Richmond AFLW stars Katie Brennan and Tayla Harris, AFL goal umpire David Rodan and Checkers and Srey from social media duo Marmalade. The special All Stars Grid Game celebrates NAB’s support of the program across the last two decades, with AFL Auskick introducing the skills of Aussie Rules to more than 2.1 million children across more than 3,500 centres nationwide.
2025 NAB AFL Auskicker of the Year, Allira Gatterllaro and her brother Raff will join the lucky Auskickers hailing from Southern NSW and Victoria who will be taking part in the experience.
All Stars team member, Katie Brennan, who has been a longstanding supporter of the NAB AFL Auskick program, is looking forward to pulling on the boots in celebration of the special milestone.
“The All Stars’ game is a special way to celebrate NAB and AFL Auskick’s 20-year anniversary,” she said.
“My footy journey started as a six-year-old at the Logan City Cobras Football Club and here I am, 20-odd years later living out my dream as a professional player,”
“I hope that kids can take some inspiration from my pathway from NAB AFL Auskick to the big time and believe that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and just give it a go.”
AFL Chief Executive Office Andrew Dillon says NAB AFL Auskick continues to go from strength to strength, remaining Australia’s leading participation program.
“NAB AFL Auskick introduces the next generation of footy fans to Aussie Rules, helping them find a love of the game in a fun environment that builds confidence and develops their footy skills,” he said.
“On behalf of the AFL, I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to NAB for its ongoing commitment to the program and incredible support across the last 20 years of our partnership.”
NAB Chief Marketing Officer Natalie Lockwood said the exhibition match would create an unforgettable experience for the young Auskickers involved.
“It’s not every day you see 50 Auskickers take on a team of football and entertainment personalities at Marvel Stadium,” she said.
“For 20-years, NAB has proudly supported kids taking their first steps in footy through Auskick, and this half-time opportunity captures that journey perfectly - from grassroots participation through to the big stage of the game.
“Together with the AFL, we’re proud to support opportunities that help young people build confidence, make connections and enjoy all the benefits that come from being part of a team.”
