  • For a limited time, NAB customers can save 10c per litre on Mobil fuel at participating 7-Eleven stores

NAB customers have saved a total of almost $1 million on petrol using a simple fuel-saving trick through their banking app, as drivers look for ways to offset the rising cost of filling up.

Launched late last year, NAB customers have been able to access a 6c per litre discount on Mobil fuel at 7-Eleven stores through NAB Goodies in their NAB banking app, with more than 300,000 fuel discounts redeemed so far.

With global uncertainty continuing to put fuel prices in the spotlight, NAB customers will have access to a boosted discount of 10c per litre on Mobil fuel at participating 7-Eleven stores until 30 September*.

NAB banker Larna Manson said Australians were leaning on discount programs to help manage rising costs.

“Fuel is one of the household expenses Australians notice straight away. When prices at the bowser rise, it can quickly add pressure to weekly budgets, particularly for people who rely on their cars every day,” she said.

“We're seeing customers look for simple and practical ways to reduce that cost, which is why offers like fuel discounts continue to be popular for savvy savers.

“Customers have really embraced this latest fuel offer, redeeming the discount thousands of times since it returned last month and saving close to $300,000 at the bowser in the process.

“What can seem like a few dollars here and there can make a meaningful difference to your budget over time.”

Fuel costs hit home for dad of three

For Melbourne occupational therapist Andrew Day, plenty of time behind the wheel comes with the territory.

Andrew runs Drive OT, supporting older Australians and people living with disability or medical conditions through driving assessments and practical advice.

Between travelling to appointments across Melbourne and keeping up with family life at home, fuel is one of the household costs he keeps a close eye on.

“I spend a lot of time on the road travelling between appointments, so fuel is a big part of our weekly budget,” Andrew said.

“With three kids and all the usual family expenses, any increase in fuel prices is something we notice pretty quickly.

“Like a lot of Australians, we're always looking for practical ways to save money on everyday costs. Even small discounts can make a difference over time.”
