NAB and AFP renew crime‑fighting partnership for another five years

NAB and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) have renewed their long‑standing partnership for another five years, continuing a shared focus on disrupting serious financial crime and helping keep the Australian community safe.

Established in 2020, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has supported more than five years of close, practical collaboration between NAB and the AFP, including day‑to‑day cooperation through liaison officers and NAB secondees working within AFP Southern Command and the Joint Policing Cybercrime Coordination Centre.

The partnership has delivered real results, with both organisations agreeing there was strong value in extending the arrangement through to 2031. By sharing intelligence in real time, NAB has helped support investigations into complex financial crime including drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud and counter-terrorism matters.  

Intelligence and operational support provided by the AFP to NAB has also materially contributed to protecting our customers, including recovering millions of dollars in scam losses.   

The renewed MoU was signed by AFP Deputy Commissioner National Security Investigations Hilda Sirec and NAB Group Chief Risk Officer Shaun Dooley, reflecting strong leadership commitment on both sides to keep working together to disrupt organised crime.

Looking ahead, NAB and the AFP will continue to deepen intelligence sharing, grow capability and expand engagement across AFP operations. As financial crime evolves, this partnership remains an important part of how NAB supports law enforcement, and helps us protect our customers, colleagues and the wider community.
