Additional options

Adventure Pack

Got a taste for adventure? Consider adding an Adventure Pack to your policy for an additional premium and you’ll get cover for a wide range of more adventurous sports and activities, beyond those already covered in your standard policy. This includes caving, abseiling, river tubing, quad biking, and more.

Snow Pack

Hitting the slopes? Consider adding a Snow Pack to your policy for an additional premium and you’ll be covered for snow related events including emergency rescue, piste closure, bad weather, and avalanches, and equipment (whether it’s hired or your own).

Cruise Pack

Going cruising? Consider adding a Cruise Pack to your policy for an additional premium for cover in the event of cabin confinement, ship to shore evacuation, delayed or lost formal attire, and medical cover while cruising.

Increased item limits

If you're planning on taking higher value items with you on your trip and want to cover them for loss, theft or damage, this may be for you. If you need a higher limit than outlined in the PDS, you can increase the limit for specified items by paying an additional premium when you purchase your policy.

Adventure, Snow, and Cruise Packs can't be added to the Essentials Plan. An excess of $500 in addition to any standard excess you choose, applies to all claims for Overseas Medical & Hospital Expenses and Cancellation, when you purchase an Adventure Pack or Snow Pack and your claim arises directly from you participating in any of the covered adventure or snow sports activities.

Coverage for everyone

Single Cover

Covers you and any dependant children or grandchildren under 25 not in full-time employment travelling with you and listed on your Certificate of Insurance. Lower limits of cover apply to dependants. Refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDF, 443KB) for more information.

Duo Cover

Covers you and your travelling companion listed as covered on your Certificate of Insurance. Duo Cover does not provide cover for dependant children.

Family Cover

Covers you and eligible members of your family travelling with you who are listed on your Certificate of Insurance. Family members who can be included are your spouse or partner, your children and your grandchildren. All children and grandchildren must be dependant, not in full-time employment and under 25. Lower limits of cover apply to dependants. Refer to the Product Disclosure Statement (PDF, 443KB) for more information.  

Frequently asked questions

Can I purchase travel insurance if I’m travelling in Australia?

If you're travelling within Australia, you may wish to consider taking out insurance against domestic flight changes or cancellations, lost or stolen baggage, or car hire excess.

I am currently overseas and have no insurance - can I still purchase a policy?

No. Our policies can only be purchased while you are still in Australia, before you start your journey.

Am I covered if I work overseas?

Our travel insurance is designed for leisure travellers and for people travelling overseas for business purposes. It is not designed to cover events linked to employment overseas and you may not be covered in certain situations. Please refer to the General Exclusions Applicable to all Sections contained in the PDS.

If I return home early, do I get any refunds on my premium?

No. If you do not know how long you will be travelling for, you can buy a policy for a specific period you know you will be definitely away. Before your policy expires, you will need to contact us so that your policy can be extended, if possible, for an additional premium. Please note that some policies do not allow extensions. For restrictions and limitations, please refer to the Extension of Cover section in your PDS.

What is a pre-existing medical condition?

They include conditions that have been treated in the past and may be currently stable but may be exacerbated by the travel. This may include conditions treated many years ago. Travel insurance only covers overseas medical events that are unforeseen. Medical conditions that were pre-existing at the time of the policy being issued are not covered, unless they are a condition that we expressly agree to cover.

If you have a pre-existing medical condition that is not covered, we will not pay any claims arising from, related to or associated with that condition. This means that you may have to pay for an overseas medical emergency which can be prohibitive in some countries.
