Customers are always front of mind for her.
Name: Adam Allan
Your role: Retail Customer Executive, Brisbane CBD
Region: Brisbane, Queensland
What’s your story?
I started at NAB straight after graduating from high school 15 years ago. My first role was as a teller and I worked in the United Kingdom. I fell into banking but quickly realised I had a huge passion for helping people. I found the process of asking my customers questions to help solve a problem they were facing very fulfilling. Having the opportunity to positively impact someone’s life is very rewarding so I decided to try and make a career out of it. In 2009, I was lucky enough to be backed by NAB to move to Australia. I worked at several different branches in Sydney and was given the opportunity to help customers to realise their home ownership dreams. It was here that I had my first leadership role. Having had some great leaders that guided and developed me is what inspired me to become a leader myself. I am proud to now lead 13 managers and to be responsible more broadly for roughly 100 people.
I also met my wife Kayla through NAB. We are the proud parents of our two-year-old daughter, Isobel, and are ready to welcome number two in a few week’s time! NAB really has been a significant part of my life.
How have you made a difference?
Leadership has given me the opportunity to develop and back so many people over the years. Many of these people have gone onto bigger and better things in their career. Having the customer at the centre of everything I do has also seen me make a difference to so many people’s lives, whether it be helping them into their first home or bringing their banking to NAB from another bank. I like to think our passion for customers means we have customers for life at NAB.
What are you passionate about?
Aside from spending quality time with my family I have two real big passions in life. Football (and I mean the real football – soccer) is my everything; I support Leeds UTD who have in the years gone by had a strong Australian link with the likes of Harry Kewell and Mark Viduka. I wake in the early hours most weekends to watch them play in the UK. My other big passion is cycling. I have three bikes and spend lots of time (too much if you ask my wife) riding and racing competitively.
