Meet Ella

Name: Ella Woods

Your role: Branch Manager, Capalaba

Region: Capalaba, Queensland

What’s your story?

When I finished school I started studying a degree in drama. If you had of told me it would lead me to a career in banking, I never would have believed it. But as they say, ’life’s a stage‘, and I have now been treading the boards of NAB for almost eight years. I had a great leader who took a chance on me as an inexperienced teller and have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by great leaders and mentors ever since. The people who I’ve worked with and the customers I have helped have truly transformed my career into a passion.

How have you made a difference?

Becoming a teller for NAB was an honour, I felt proud to put on my uniform every day and serve my customers alongside people who were just as passionate as me. Becoming a leader with NAB is a privilege that has allowed me to serve my community on a grander scale. My job is to empower those I work with to be excellent at what they do and to foster the development of a customer centric workplace.

I am now managing a Digital Branch (semi-assisted self-service) in Brisbane South. I lead a team of outstanding bankers; committed to taking our customers into the future of banking through engagement with our digital service channels. It is my belief that we make a difference in the lives of every customer we come in contact with, and I still feel a sense of pride every day I come to work with the brilliant people who stand next to me.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about leaving a positive imprint on those I connect with, it’s probably why I was so drawn to leadership as it means you get paid to do it! I love being able to help develop the capability and careers of our bankers and take every opportunity I can to involve myself in training activities and workshops. Outside work, I enjoy time with my family and my dogs and spend as much time as I can in the beautiful bayside that I’m lucky enough to live near.
