Partnership supports innovative housing solutions to improve affordability
NAB customer and housing provider Assemble, is reinventing affordable housing solutions through their development of cutting-edge and thoughtfully designed housing accommodation.
NAB CEO Andrew Irvine recently toured Assemble’s completed project in Brunswick, Victoria with Assemble Founder and Managing Director Kris Daff and Assemble CEO Carolyn Viney.
“It started from an idea almost a decade ago that maybe the housing system could be better, and fairer for more Australians. Today, we’re delivering thousands and thousands of homes all across the country,” Assemble Managing Director, Kris Daff said.
The Brunswick project was completed in January 2025 and features 171 apartments with shared spaces designed to foster community connection.
“None of this would be possible without the support of key banking partners like NAB,” Mr Daff said.
“At the end of the day, what we're doing is a small part of trying to address a bigger problem that our country is facing today," Ms Viney said.
“We believe that NAB's broader work in the housing space, and particularly the recent announcement of the $60 billion initiative, is exactly the kind of action needed to make a meaningful contribution to addressing the housing crisis.”
Housing affordability is an ongoing challenge for many Australians who are renting, seeking to purchase a home or managing mortgage repayments. NAB is stepping up to support innovative solutions, partnering with housing developers to help more Australians access secure, well-designed homes.
"Housing affordability is Australia’s biggest policy and societal challenge,” NAB CEO, Andrew Irvine said.
“It’s critical we address the supply issue, just as much as demand.”
“Assemble is a fantastic example of an organisation providing affordable homes where people want to live, in inner-city Melbourne.”

NAB’s commitment to affordable housing
NAB has set a bold ambition to provide more than $60 billion in housing financing by 2030, split equally between funding new housing supply and supporting first home buyers. This commitment could support around 55,000 loans for first home buyers and the development of 50,000 new homes nationwide.
NAB is a strategic banking partner for Assemble, recently providing construction finance for three affordable residential projects totalling approximately $500 million, with $200 million under NAB’s Green CRE finance.
