Relief measures available for those affected by cyclone event

  • NAB launches relief measures for customers impacted by Cyclone Fina in the Northern Territory 

  • Disaster Relief Grants of $1,000 are being made available for eligible NAB customers in impacted areas.

  • Loan deferrals, reduced repayment arrangements and extra care options available. 

NAB is providing $1,000 grants and additional financial relief to customers severely impacted by Cyclone Fina and the severe weather in the NT. 

The grants will help NAB customers who have suffered major damage to their home, property or business, cover emergency expenses.

NAB Retail Customer Executive NT, Andrew Ferrier said a range of support measures, from grants to loan payment deferrals and other relief measures, were in place to help NAB customers impacted by the cyclone.  

“Cyclone Fina has significantly impacted communities across the Northern Territory,” Mr Ferrier said. 
 
“We know this is a difficult for many of our communities and NAB is here to help. We’re providing immediate assistance, including $1,000 disaster relief grants, to help those affected.”

Assistance is available for eligible NAB customers in the impacted local government areas of: Belyuen, Coomalie, Cox-Daly, Darwin, Marrakai-Douglas Daly, West Daly, Victoria Daly, Litchfield, Palmerston, Tiwi Islands, Wagait and West Arnhem.

Further support is available for NAB customers directly impacted, including:

  • Loan deferral or reduced repayment arrangements for home, personal and some business loans.
  • Hardship support for customers struggling to make minimum monthly payments on personal loans, home loans or credit cards.
  • Deferring upcoming credit card payments.
  • Waiving and/or refunding fees and charges, including merchant terminal fees and early access fees to term deposits.
  • Allianz is operating a dedicated Catastrophe Claims team to support NAB insurance policyholders. If you are an existing NAB insurance policyholder, you can call the Natural Disaster Claims Line on 1300 555 013. You can also lodge a claim online at any time via the Allianz Claim form.

Customers affected by Cyclone Fina can apply for a Disaster Relief Grant online. For financial hardship assistance, or if you are unable to apply online, you can call NAB on: 

  • 1800 701 599 (Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm (AEST/AEDT), Saturday, 9:00am to 1:00pm (AEST/AEDT)) for personal customers 

  • 1300 961 577 (Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (AEST/AEDT) for business customers; or

  • NAB messaging in the App and on Internet Banking.

All enquiries will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the NAB Assist team to determine eligibility. Disaster Relief Grants for impacted customers will remain open until 24th December 2025.

Be aware of Frauds and Scams

During this time, customers are reminded to stay alert to potential scams. Criminals may use events like this natural disaster as an opportunity to impersonate well-known organisations including banks, insurance or telecommunication providers and government agencies. NAB will never send customers links in unexpected text messages, or ask customers for personal information like passwords or pins.
