Keeping your cards active and money safe is just as important to us as it is to you. That's why it’s best to tell us about your overseas travel plans before you leave. Let’s look at the main things you need to tell us – and how to do so.

Tell us where you’re going using the NAB app

It’s important to let us know about any upcoming trips with us, so we can protect your NAB cards and make sure they stay active while you’re away.

Here's how to protect your card using the NAB app:1,2

  • Log in to NAB app. Tap on the More icon.
  • Tap on Overseas travel and Add a trip.
  • Simply enter the overseas countries you plan to visit, your travel dates, email address and mobile number you’ll be using while overseas.
  • Select if you think you’ll be using ATMs or making large purchases, then Submit.
  • You’re done! You’ll see an onscreen confirmation that your travel notification was successful.

Left the country already? Don’t fret. You can still tell us about your travel plans by completing a notification using the NAB app (using the simple steps above).

If your travel plans change, you can easily edit or delete your existing travel notifications through the app. If you didn’t complete your travel notification in the NAB app, or don’t have it, you can tell us your change of plans by:

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to tell NAB every country I will visit?

Make sure you tell us every country you’re going to. This reduces the chance we put a hold on your cards due to suspicious transactions on your account.

How do I delete countries?

You can do this in the NAB app by editing the trip and tapping the grey cross to the right of each populated country below the Where are you going? header in your My Itinerary screen.

What about large purchases and using ATMs?

The more we know about your plans and how you plan to spend your money, the better we can monitor and make sure your cards are safe and your money is secure.

Are there location and notification services?

Yes. If you turn these on in your NAB app Settings, we’ll be able to send you an alert when you’re at the airport to remind you to let us know that you’re leaving the country.

That way, we can protect your cards while you’re away. You can always turn these off by selecting Notifications, and then Turn off the Notifications – Overseas Travel.

What if I’m an additional cardholder?

Then you’ll have to submit your own travel notification by following the same steps in the NAB app. Keep in mind you can’t submit a travel notification on behalf of the primary cardholder.

Can I customise my NAB Visa credit and debit cards?

You can customise your Visa card settings so you decide when and how you use your card, including for overseas purchases. If you don’t allow your cards to be used for overseas purchases, you won’t be able to use your card, even if you’ve told us about your travel plans.

What if my card is lost or stolen?
