Chief Technology and Operations Officer (Acting)
Matt was appointed to the role of Chief Technology and Operations Officer (Acting) in September 2016. Matt has been with NAB since 2005, and during this time has occupied senior roles leading large operational and transformational teams across the Australian Bank, Finance and Wealth businesses.
Prior to current role, Matt was Executive General Manager - NAB Wealth Operations & Transformation (from April 2013). Responsibilities included leading a team of 2000 people across operational areas including Customer Servicing and Transactions, Digital, Contact Centres, Management Assurance, Business Management, Technology and Transformation. The Transformation Program led by Matt was responsible for the creation of Australia’s largest retail superannuation fund, The MLC Superannuation Fund on 1 July 2016 and the recent establishment of the new MLC Life Insurance business, under a new ownership structure from October 2016.
Matt’s other roles at NAB since 2005 have included:
- Executive General Manager, NAB Shared Services (Group Property, Procurement, Logistics, Enterprise Finance Systems, Payroll, HR Operations, MI and Data Management);
- General Manager, Finance Services & Operations (Group Statutory and Regulatory Reporting, Management Information, Enterprise Data and Systems);
- Head of Business Efficiency & Quality, Australian Region.
Prior to NAB, Matt occupied senior roles at Woolworths (2002-2005) as National Finance & Strategy Manager of the Supply Chain & Logistics Division and at Qantas (1996-2001) in the position of General Manger, Profit Enhancement & Operations Performance and CFO for Operations.
Matt has a Commerce (Accounting) degree from the University of NSW, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and has an Executive MBA from AGSM. Matt started his career with Ernst & Young, specialising in Corporate Recovery and Insolvency.
Matt has a diverse range of skills, having successfully led and transformed businesses in CFO and COO roles. Matt has occupied Board positions of subsidiary entities at both Qantas and NAB.
