What is a credit report?

A credit report is a document produced by a credit reporting body. It’s based on information about you provided by credit providers including companies like utility providers. It includes things like your loan repayment history, credit card and other loan limits, and any defaults. It also includes how often you have applied for loans. The information on your credit report is summarised to give you a number known as a credit score.

A credit provider like a bank, utility company or internet provider may obtain your credit report from a credit reporting body. They may use this to assess your application for credit and to help them decide if you can make the repayments.  It will be an important factor in their decision, but keep in mind, it’s not the only thing they’ll use to assess your credit application.

What’s in the NAB Credit Health report?

Your NAB Credit Health report includes a credit score and credit report. This is based on information reported to illion, a third-party credit reporting body, from a range of credit providers.

Your credit score is a number between 0 and 1,000 and is based on your credit behaviour. The higher the score, the more positive indication of your credit health – the lower, the more negative.

When a credit provider assesses your application (e.g. for a home loan, credit card or electricity supply) they’ll look at your credit history, credit score and other factors such as your income, expenses and debts to assess your ability to make repayments.
