Industry experience
Anna has more than 25 years' experience in executive and non-executive leadership roles across government, financial services, industry bodies and the not-for-profit sector. She was the 37th Premier of Queensland from 2007 to 2012 and was the first woman appointed to the role.
Other business and market experience
Anna brings extensive experience in leadership and public policy, including strategy, governance, risk oversight and stakeholder engagement, gained across a range of sectors including banking and financial services, education, health, infrastructure and community services.
Anna served in several senior Queensland Government roles, including Deputy Premier, Treasurer, and Minister for Finance, State Development, Trade and Innovation and Education, where she oversaw significant reforms to the State’s education system. During that time, she also had responsibilities for the Arts portfolio, overseeing construction of the Millennium Arts Precinct. She was also a member of the Queensland Cabinet Budget Review Committee for 11 years.
Before entering Parliament, Anna worked across community organisations and the Queensland Public Service, with a focus on employment, training and industrial relations policy.
Anna was formerly Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Banking Association (from 2017 to 2025) and YWCA NSW, and was a director of the International Banking Federation. She has also served as a Non-Executive Director on the board of Medibank Private.
